who we are

Known for “cohesive and heartfelt performances” and “exquisite selections in programming,” (Boston Musical Intelligencer) Fermata Chamber Soloists is a Cambridge-based collective of young artists presenting re-imagined classical concerts.

With a roster of top tier artists, frequenting many of the world’s finest musical institutions, FCS refocuses classical music on the live concert experience, presenting community-oriented events that redefine what classical music can be, while retaining the highest level of artistry.

history

Originally founded as Fermata Inc., FCS began as a group of young artists wishing to bridge the professional gap between one’s conservatory graduation and a fully fledged performance career. Noticing the disconnect between audiences and live music however, Fermata dedicated itself to the community oriented, live concert experience. Beginning as a performance of Mendelssohn in the living room of co-founder Nicholas Stewart, Fermata performed these modest concerts all over the Boston area, and even Toronto.

In hosting free, or affordible events centered around the in-person concert experience, Fermata established itself as a group that elevates the audience to a new level of importance.

Entering it’s sixth season, Fermata Chamber Soloists is known for its fresh and exciting concert experiences, and its uncompromising artistic standards. The Ensemble has been featured on WGBH Radio, and WCRB Classical Radio Boston.
